Like a Dream (2009)
Macao-born director Clara Law (“The Goddess of 1967”), who now lives and works in Australia, returns to China for her tenth feature. The story, which shifts between Shanghai, Taipei and New York, follows an American-born Chinese man whose obsession with his romantic dreams takes him to China in search of his imaginary love.

Produced by Eddie Fong and veteran Taiwanese producer Peggy Chiao of Arc Light Films, the film stars Daniel Wu (“Around the World in 80 Days”) and Quan Yuan (“Shanghai Lunba”). Persona Films handled all production in the U.S.

In 2009 “Like a Dream” bagged nine nominations at Taiwan’s Golden Horse Award, the most prestigious Chinese-language film awards. Nominations include Best Film, Best Director and Best Male Actor, Daniel Wu (“Around the World in 80 Days”), and Best Female Actor, Yolanda Yuan.

“The idea for the film sprang from a conversation I had with a friend who remarked how much Shanghai resembles New York these days,” Law told Daily Variety. “Like a Dream” is scheduled for release in 2009.
